Wrestling Society X
WSX
Wrestling Society X (WSX) was a 2006 television series based on professional wrestling. It was a weekly series and its storyline was premised upon the idea of being a secret society of wrestling, and was shown on MTV2 and MTV UK. On Demand also showcased extras of the WSX for a short time. The storyline dictated that the wrestling society hold its matches in a secret clubhouse, the WSX Bunker, which was artificially constructed so as to look worn out and secretive. Making it unique to MTV, musical guests performed at the beginning of each show. The show was begun and ended in 2007 and the season finale, the 10th episode, has yet to run. However, a four disc compilation DVD of the entire show, will be released this year shortly before the Christmas shopping season begins in the fall of 2007.
Wrestling Society X Website
Since the WSX premiered as part of MTV, the Wrestling Society X website included on MTV’s own website as a sub page. The website homepage encourages viewers and fans to get excited to watch as “MTV slams pro wrestling and music together” in “an onslaught of death-defying feats, aerobatic maneuvers, and truly athletic performances.” Highlights of previous shows are available for download on the site. In case a fan needs to brush up on recent events, an episode guide is readily accessible for his or her reading pleasure, with play-by-plays accurately described in full detail. Plus, several fun features for fans can be found on the site, including an “Xtreme Wrestler Creator” that allows you to digitally build your own cartoon wrestler and sets of WSX Video Trading Cards. Cast information is also accessible in the “Wrestling Society X: Meet the Cast” area, where each cast member has a profile that includes both statistics and personal biography.
WSX Logo
The WSX logo is a large box with a brown background and a large dark letter “x” that spans across the entire box. The x itself has a brushy border, reminding the viewer that this is the image associated with a secret society that houses itself in a run down “bunker.” On top of the large x, the words “wrestling society” are written in bright white, all capital letter, and boxy poster font. Each of these letters has a little bit of graying that conjures up images of bruising or beating, consistent with the themed storyline of the Wrestling Society X series.
